Encompass Health is proposing to build a 50-bed, one-story inpatient rehabilitation hospital at what is currently 9645 and 9719 Lantana Road, Lake Worth, Florida 33467.  The location is on the North side of Lantana Road between SR-7/US-441 and 95th Avenue South.

This project is still in an early phase and a timeline has yet to be finalized. Once approved, construction will only take place during hours designated by the county out of respect of the neighbors. A typical 50-bed hospital takes approximately 16 months to construct.

Encompass Health hospitals are licensed as specialty hospital with the provision of providing physical medicine and rehabilitative services.  Encompass Health serves patients on a short-term basis, on average a 13-14 day stay, who have been diagnosed with a major illness or injury that requires intensive physical, occupational or speech therapies. Patient care will be overseen by physicians.  This hospital is not to be confused as a rehabilitation center that serves people recovering from drug or alcohol addiction.

Patients will be transferred to the hospital from a local acute care hospital via ambulance, but it is very rare that emergency lights and sirens will be turned on.

This hospital will bring new, high-wage jobs to the area including therapists, pharmacists, case managers, nurses, dietary specialists and more. In preparation for opening, it will hire approximately 100 full-time employees.

This hospital is a state-of-the-art facility designed to blend into the existing community.   Its one-story design will feature nice landscaping, upgraded signage and a courtyard where patients can practice navigating on a variety of terrains. This hospital will offer all private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym with the latest rehabilitation technologies, an activities of daily living suite where patients can comfortably practice preparing meals and self-care, a cafeteria and dining room, day rooms, in-house pharmacy, outdoor therapy courtyard and more.
